2009 FBC

If you would like to submit your work to this year’s Francelia Butler Conference, please follow these guidelines:

1. You may submit only one piece of work to each of the two categories, Creative and Critical. Papers that were read at last summer’s conference, have been published, or critical papers that have been read at an academic conference (ICFA, ChLA, MLA) are not accepted. Submissions do not have to have been written for a Hollins class.

2. All papers should be no longer than 10 pages (approximately 2500 to 3500 words). You should include your work cited page(s) with your submission, but it does not count towards your page limit. Papers should follow MLA format: Font size 12 pt, Times New Roman font, double-spaced pages with 1 inch margins. Pages should also be numbered in the top right corner (1 of 10, 2 of 10, etc).

3. Please do not include your name on the actual submission. Fill out the information at the bottom of this sheet, and include it as a cover page to your work.

4. Do not staple; please use paper clips.

5. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, July 17th, 9:00 PM. There will be a drop-off box for conference submissions outside of Amanda’s office.

Should your work be among the 14 (7 critical, 7 creative) papers selected for the conference, you will be asked to provide an electronic copy within hours after the reading committee has completed the judging on Sunday, July 19th. So please be prepared! The electronic copy should be e-mailed as a Microsoft Word.doc attachment to MagaretOrto@yahoo.com and keyanna@gmail.com. The finalists will be e-mailed as soon as the results are in, and results will be posted by Amanda’s office by the morning of July 20th.
