
Diana Dominguez earned a
Ph.D. In Medieval Irish Literature (with a feminist focus) from Texas
Tech University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of English at
The University of Texas-Brownsville/Texas Southmost College where she
teaches primarily ancient to medieval literature and women's
literature. Her research interests include gender portrayal issues in
medieval literature, popular culture, and children's/YA literature,
with a specific focus on the female heroic figure in ancient and
medieval literature and young adult fantasy literature. Since 2000, she
has served as chair of the children's and young adult literature area
of the Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Associations
conference. She has published scholarly work on gender and popular
culture, several scholarly book reviews, and published and won awards
for creative work (poetry, short stories, and creative non-fiction).
